2023 Summer Training Opportunities

Available Courses

Advanced Aviation Course 

  • Develop aviation knowledge and skills

  • ​Activities include:
    • Aviation Communication

    • Meteorology

    • ​Instructional Techniques​

Glider Pilot Training Course

  • Obtain your Transport Canada Glider Pilot Licence​​

  • Qualifications:
    • ​Must be 16 years old by September 1 of the course year
    • Complete proficiency level 3 by the end of the training year
    • Completed grade 9
    • Pass a qualifying exam

Power Pilot Training Course

  • Obtain your Transport Canada Power Pilot Licence​​

  • Qualifications:
    • ​Must be 17 years old by September 1 of the course year
    • Complete proficiency level 4 by the end of the training year
    • Completed grade 10
    • Pass a qualifying exam

Survival Instructor Course

  • Develop knowledge and skills as a survival instructor and team leader for aircraft crew survival

  • Activities include:
    • Aircrew survival skills​
    • Team & solo survival exercises
    • Aircrew survival exercise operations 
    • Instructional techniques
    • Navigation by map and compass

Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor Course

  • Develop knowledge and skills as an air rifle marksmanship instructor 

  • Activities include:
    • Marksmanship techniques​
    • Instructional techniques & coaching
    • Opportunity to progress your marksmanship level qualification

Drill and Ceremonial Instructor Course

  • Develop knowledge and skills to perform duties as a drill and ceremonial instructor

  • Activities include:
    • Advanced drill
    • Instructional techniques
    • Leadership in conducting of parades and ceremonies

Fitness and Sports Instructor Course

  • Further personal fitness and healthy living knowledge and skills to perform duties as a fitness and sports instructor

  • Activities include:
    • Personal fitness
    • Healthy living
    • Conducting the cadet fitness assessment
    • Leading physical activities
    • Opportunity to progress your cadet fitness assessment incentive level

Military Band Musician

  • Develop music skills ranging from basic to advanced to support military bands

  • Activities include:
    • Music training and band activities
      • Music theory​
      • Music technique
      • Band drill
      • Leadership 
      • Performing ensemble music
    • Opportunity to progress your music proficiency level qualifications

Cadet Activity Program

  • CAP 1 (level 1) & CAP 2 (level 2)

  • Develop leadership, self-confidence, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Engage with youth outside of their home squadron

Staff Cadet

  • Must be at least 16 years old 

International Air Cadet Exchange Course

  • An annual worldwide exchange opportunity to promote professional relationships, cooperation, and leadership among aviation cadets and programs across the globe

  • Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 17 years old​

    • Demonstrate good grades in high school

    • Pass a qualifying interview
